Day 5 til Christmas!!

Some Christmas Tree Facts For You :)

  • Forego throwing out your Christmas tree and make it lunch. The Evergreen is actually edible, well most parts of it anyway. In addition, it is nutrient enriched, so if you take the advice stated previously you'd be getting a good source of Vitamin C and roughage. Don't mind that you will be eating a tree; it's just one step away from any other vegetable.
  • According to the National Christmas Tree Association, Americans buy 37.1 million real Christmas trees each year; 25 percent of them are from the nation's 5,000 choose-and-cut farms.
  • Animal Crackers are not really crackers, but cookies that were imported to the United States from England in the late 1800s. Barnum's circus-like boxes were designed with a string handle so that they could be hung on a Christmas tree.

Day 10 til Christmas!

Did you know.....

Candy canes began as straight white sticks of sugar candy used to decorated the Christmas trees. A choirmaster at Cologne Cathedral decided have the ends bent to depict a shepherd's crook and he would pass them out to the children to keep them quiet during the services. It wasn't until about the 20th century that candy canes acquired their red stripes.

Wedding Cake & Dessert Table!

I apologize for the delay, I promised these photos to you when I posted my other wedding cakes almost a month ago! Where does the time go?!?  I had the pleasure of doing the wedding cake and dessert table for a friend I used to work with at JCrew.  I have never done a dessert table this large and vast so I was excited when she gave me the opportunity.  It was a fun experience and the bride was patient enough to work with me through it.  I knew someone that attended the wedding so was able to get a great shot of them enjoying my cake. I was really happy with the outcome and definately learned a few lessons along the way :)

Autism Speaks

I was honored to be apart of an event for such a wonderful organization.  An incredible and scary fact that I learned while I was there is that 1 in every 110 children and 1 in every 70 boys are affected by Autism. Autism Speaks has helped raised awareness for this wide spread disease and is the largest contributor to research. The committee put on a fabulous event last week at the Juliet Supper Club and I wanted to share some of the treats that I did for them.

I had the pleasure of meeting the photographer Debbie Miracolo (debbie@debbiemiracolo.com), who was nice enough to share her photos with me.  She did a wonderful job capturing my food and some great candid photos from the event (Check out more pictures from the event).  She specializes in events and portraiture, so the next time you have an event or need a photographer for your children she is great!
